HUCKING

Sunday 1st January 2011

We held our first walk of 2011 and New Year’s Day visiting Hucking to walk round the Woodland Trust area. Assembling at 10:45 ready to move off at 11:00 on an overcast but not to cold generally dry morning.  With Anne leading the 24 handlers with 22 dogs moved off down the road for a short distance before turning up a short path into a field were the dogs let off.

The group soon strung out into a column walking across an open area enjoying watching the dogs haring around burning off their energy. The dogs stopping for a quick drink when they found a suitable puddle. We followed the various pathways, stopping briefly for the usual group photo.

Then on along more pathways and open areas eventually ending back to the Hook and Hatchet pub at 12:30 after completing 3 miles.

Time to relax, have a drink and a chat.

Thanks to Anne and Terry for organising the walk.

PERRY WOOD

Sunday 3rd April 2011

This walk was arranged for Kings Wood but when we arrived there the road was full of police cars and ambulances and the car park was not available for use. There were police dog teams searching the woods as there had been a rave there the previous night. The decision was made to go to Perry Wood instead the only time Anne has forgotten to bring her mobile was today so she had to wait until the expected off time before leaving Kings Wood.

We reformed in Perry Wood and despite all the problems still managed to move off at 10:50 instead of the intended 10:30 start.

Twenty two of us twenty dogs left the car park to follow a route passed the point known as the 'pulpit' which is a bit of a climb before dropping down to the Rose and Crown pub. Here we crossed the road and followed the path up stopping at the top for a break and a chance to give the dogs some water.

Continuing on along the paths to eventually arriving back to the car park at about 11:55.

Thanks once again to Anne for arranging the walk and Patricia for acting as guide.

CAPSTONE COUNTRY PARK

Sunday 4th September 2011

As usual a popular walk this one with 27 of us gathering with 24 dogs to set off at 10:00 from the car park on a dry but overcast morning.
The walk took us up past the top car park and then followed various paths crossing several open spaces, stopping as normal for the group photo.
Always a patch of mud to be found and Romey made the most of it, not sure Margaret was to pleased.

Terry did a grand job 'walking' his dog Amber although Alfie was heard complaining to the other dogs that he had to walk all the way round.

Arriving back at the lake after about one and half hours ready for refreshments at the cafe.

Thanks to Anne and Terry for arranging and leading the walk.
