HUCKING

Saturday 28th June 2008

The first walk of the year took place around the pastures and woodlands of Hucking. We had not had a club walk for sometime because our current training venue is available every Sunday unlike our previous venue. It was on these unavailable Sundays Anne arranged the walks, so she decided to try a Saturday afternoon and with 30 handlers with 32 dogs taking part it was definitely a popular decision.
Not only did Anne arrange the walk but also excellent weather and with temperatures in the mid twenties we met in the Hook and Hatchet car park at 2:15pm for a 2:30pm departure time.

We moved off on time, going down the road a short distance before turning right through a gate and up a short path into a field. The dogs were let off and the normal line of handlers and dogs stretched off in to the distance.

The route led by Anne with Terry bring up the rear took us through the usual mixture of fields and woodlands. We seemed to have the place more or less to ourselves only meeting a few other people out walking.
As we approached the pub on our return we started to feel even more thirsty. Walking for one and a half hours and covering about four miles it was time to think about relaxing with a drink.

The pub garden was duly taken over by dogs and handlers.

Thanks to everyone for supporting the walk and Anne and Terry for organising it.

CAPSTONE PARK

Sunday 28th December 2008

The weather was ideal for our post Christmas walk, dry, bright a 'bit of a nip in the air' with the temperature at 3 deg C.
This walk again proved popular with about forty people and thirty five dogs assembling in the car park ready for the off at 10:00 o'clock.

This year we took a similar route to last year but walked it in the opposite direction. We were soon able to let the dogs off lead and away they went to enjoy running together.

After a while we entered another field and stopped for our group photo.
We then carried on with our walk around the park meeting other people out walking their dogs.
Must have been a little unexpected seeing all of us walking towards them with so many dogs running around. It was credit to all that this was done without any problems.

We then stopped for a short break and a chance to have chat while keeping the dogs under control.

Soon we were off again, starting to make our way back to the start and a visit to the cafe.

It was interesting standing back to take the photo on the left and watching Anne, like the pied piper, leading and the rest of the group in a line behind her stretching across the field. Stockbury Dog Club on the march is quite an impressive sight. (video clip 7MB)

Having been out in the park for one hour twenty minutes we arrived back at the cafe. Time to relax have a drink and a mince pie, thank you Anne. Could not resist taking a few photos of some of the dogs as they waited for their owners to finish.

Time to go. Once again thanks to Anne and Terry for arranging and leading a very enjoyable walk and to all who came along support the event.

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year.
