STOCKBURY DOG CLUB
NEWSLETTER 4
Right, get out your diary! The last display of the year will be at Wouldham on the 25th September. Just follow the signs to Wouldham, Burham or Borstal from the back road out of Aylesford or from the bottom of the old Bluebell Hill road. It will be in the afternoon from 1pm onwards. It would be great to see all our dogs there supporting the club!
We have always prided ourselves on the ‘social’ aspect of the club, but in retrospect we have not had many social events this year. We will try to squeeze in a BBQ before the bad weather sets in - I’ll keep you posted. It is also time to get your name down for the Christmas Dinner which this year will be on the 11th December in Stockbury Village Hall. If you are interested please register your name and numbers with Brenda Bingham. We will be arranging a ‘Walk’ Club maybe once a month. These will be published in advance and will usually end up in a Pub somewhere. This is an alternative to the usual Sunday Morning training and again if you are interested please let Anne Payne know (Little Anne). Would you like a weekend (or longer) by the seaside with all the dogs? Please let Simon know about this.
We are restructuring the classes so that there is a definite Progression to follow with more options for ‘Companion’ Dogs. (see attached).
The criteria for Class 1 Puppies is now ‘Sit’ ‘Down’ and social. (30 minute session).
Class 2 as above Plus ‘Heel’ and ‘Come’.
Class 3 (Companion Dogs) As above plus ‘Immediate Recall’ 2 minute ‘Downstay’ Distance ‘Down’.
On completion of Companion Dog Class, options are now, Agility, Tracking, Scent Discrimination, Display Team, Citizen Dog or other as identified as a need (Line Dancing)?
These changes are anticipated to further enhance the club and prevent boredom from the dogs and owners thereby adding to the unique appeal our club engenders.
Don’t forget an aggressive dog MUST be muzzled. Unfortunately some people are still not heeding this. We will be enforcing this rule more rigorously in future to prevent injuries occurring to other dogs or people.
Meanwhile I am very impressed with the progress you have all made with your dogs - keep up the good work!
