Easter Bonnet Parade and Fun Games 2010
Sunday 11th April

We again held our annual Easter event on the playing fields at Stockbury Village. The morning was dry, overcast with an occasional glimpse of the sun but a cold north easterly wind.
Entries opened at 9:15 with the events starting at 10:00. This year our judge was  Mr. Norman Weeks who had the difficult task of choosing the winners.

Norman started the judging with the Easter Bonnet Parade which was won Maisie shown on the left of the picture with her handler Carol in 2nd place Izzy (middle) with Henry and in 3rd place Holly (right) with Theresa.

With the bonnet winner decided we moved on to class 1 of the fun games, Fastest Sausage Eater, always good fun to watch.
Terry with stop watch in hand timed how long it took for each dog to eat a number of sausages out of a bowl. Some dogs are polite eaters and took time to clear them, three labradors, say no more,  tied for first place at three seconds each. An eat off was arranged with Buddy the winner setting the fastest time of 2 seconds to the delight of his handler Steve.

Next up was the dog with the Most Appealing Eyes. This went to Alfie a lovely little Corgi brought along by handler Ozzie.

On to class 3, Best Crossbreed, this was won by Woody with handler Linda.

Class 4 Best Mover (under 15”) was won by Maisie with handler Carol.

Class 5 Best Mover (under 15”) was won by Mr Bingley with handler Irene.

On again to Class 6 Dog with Waggiest Tail which was won by Siani with handler Janet.

Now we see how fast the handlers can go whilst keeping a steady hand with Class 7, Sausage and Spoon Race.
This was run in two heats with a final run off between the two heat winners.
The final was won by Troy with handler Steve.

Class 8 Fancy Dress was won by Tia with handler Linda.

The penultimate Class 9 Dog Judge Would Most Like To Take Home was won by Cass with handler Simon.

Final Class 10 Dog Most Like Its Owner was won by Oscar with handler Vanessa.

During the morning 31 dogs took part in the various classes. Thanks must go to Jo and Anne for doing the bulk of the organising and Sue and Jim for running the raffle which made £76 also the other helpers on the day and all who supported the morning.

Mike's Presentation

At the end of the morning Mike Shillabeer was presented with a gift by our chairman Mick Bingham on behalf of the club for service as a member and trainer over many years until he recently resigned from the club due to health problems.
We thank Mike for all the time and energy he put into the club and we wish him well for the future.
