Easter Bonnet Parade and Fun
Games 2009 |
|
| This year we held our Easter event on the playing field at Stockbury on Sunday 5th April, what a good choice it was with the sun shining the weather was ideal. The morning started with entries for the parade and other fun events being taken from 9:15 with the Easter Bonnet parade first on starting at 10:00. We were fortunate this year to have Mr Tim Oxley, Animal Control Officer for the Swale area to judge the various events. | ||
|
The handlers lined their dogs up resplendent in their Easter Bonnets
some more tolerant about wearing them than others dogs. After much
deliberation Tim decided on his winner, second and third places. They went to: 1st Sophie with handler Sophie Goode. 2nd Bessie with handler John Slater 3rd Holly with handler Theresa Sweetman We then moved on to the following events:- |

|
Most appealing eyes was won by Mya with handler Bonny Wade. Best Cross Breed went to Max with handler
Sue Goode. |
|
|
Best Mover under 15" was won by Mylo with handler Alice Thompson. Best Mover over 15" was won by Ellie with Sandy Piper. |
||
| Waggiest Tail was won by Bessie with Christine Slater. | ||
| Sausage and Spoon race was divided into two heats the winner of each heat going through to the final. Heat one winner was Lulu with Rachel Plant, heat two was won by Gus with Diane Youdale. This meant the final was between a little dog and a large dog, they set off and Lulu with her little legs a blur pulled out a slight lead but the steadier pace of Gus paid off when Rachel dropped the sausage just short of the line and Gus with Diane crossed the line to win. | ||
| Fastest Sausage Eater was decided by timing how long the dogs took to empty the tin of sausages, three sausages for the small dogs five for the large. The times were then compared and the winner was Max with handler Phil Hurd. | ||
| Dog Judge would like to take home was won by Lulu with handler Rachel Plant. |

Looking around during the morning everybody seemed to be enjoying
themselves and it was a very successful event. These events have a
lot of work put in by a number of people so some thanks are in
order. Firstly a big thank you to our judge Tim Oxley for giving
up his own time to come and judge our events. He did a difficult job
very well and the way he spoke to the handlers together with his
professional approach when looking at the dogs made the competition
all the more enjoyable and run smoothly. Last but not least a big thank you and well done to Anne who did the bulk of the organising to enable the event to take place. I think you would all agree the 'girl' did well.
