Sunday 16th March was overcast and damp but it did
not deter in excess of forty dogs and handlers attending and having
some fun. The morning
started with normal training which lasted for about thirty minutes.
Then it was time for the handlers who wanted to enter the parade to get their dogs
bonnets and try to persuade the dogs to wear them. With bonnets
fixed it was time to join the parade and for our judge Liz to choose
first, second and third places. Not an easy task with the number of
really good bonnets on display.
Deliberation over
Wallace the Labrador was announced as the winner of the Stockbury
Dog Club Easter Bonnet Parade 2008. Second place went to Casper the Leonberger
and third to Banjo the Jack Russell
.
Well done to all the dogs and their handlers who took part in the
parade and thank
you for the time and effort you put in to make so many great
bonnets.
They
might not have won but Annie thought Alfie looked rather handsome in
his bonnet.
 Parade
over it was on to the sausage and spoon race and it seemed most of
the dogs and handlers wanted to take part so the race was run in two
heats.
First
three in each heat going through to a final. This was followed by
the sack race.
Races
over next event was dog most like its owner. Everybody with their
dogs to heal walked in a big circle around the judges until a
winner, George the black Labradoodle, and runner up, Millie, were
chosen.
The
final event was dog with the waggiest tail. This was won by Napoleon
(brown Staf) with Benson runner up. Anne and her dog look on as Napoleon and
Benson show great interest in one of the prizes.
Thanks to you all for supporting the club and making it a fun
morning also a special thank you to Liz for judging and Anne with
her helpers for organising another successful event.
