The event was running on
time so there wasn’t too much opportunity for any nerves before we started.
As Mark was still out of action,
The team seem to be in demand this summer and the next displays will be in two weeks’ time on Saturday 27th June when we will be at Wateringbury School Fete followed by Trottiscliffe Fete. Thanks to John for taking the photos and Su for the report. |

Displays at Wateringbury School Fete and Trottiscliffe School Fete Saturday 27th June 2009 |
||
|
Stockbury Dog Cub Display Team were in demand this Saturday, 27th June, having received requests for displays at two different fetes on the same day. With only eight miles between the the two venues both fetes were attended. The team first went to Wateringbury Primary School’s fete arriving at 12:30 and starting their display at 1:00pm. The fete was very well attended with lots going on which was a good test of the dogs concentration. It was a very hot day which always makes working the dogs harder also Mick could not give his commentary as the PA system did no cover the display ring. The team completed their display but the dogs were not at their best and everybody was pleased to get back into the shade.
All that relaxing watching the water flow by in the stream brings on a
thirst. So next stop a pub! Then on to Trottiscliffe Primary School Fete for the second display of the day which was due to start at 4:30pm The weather was more overcast by then and a bit cooler, still hot but much more comfortable for the dogs. With the team reassembled it was time to start the display. (Click for video - Warning 22MB - will take time to load - not suitable for dial up users file to large.) Cheryl with Charles lead the team out followed by Carol with Katie, Brenda with Chester, Su with Max, Jo with Max, Phil with Millie, Helen with Larry, Judy with Jaz, Teresa with Holly, Carol with Megan and Di with Gus.
Before dispersing to make our way home we gathered for a team photo. Thanks to the team for supporting the events and to our travelling spectators, it is always nice to see friends and family encouraging the team. Next display will be at the Labrador Rescue Kent fete at Stockbury Playing Field on Sunday 5th July.

Stockbury Dog Club had a new Pack leader in the shape of Brenda Bingham for there 5th display of the year at Chart Sutton on the 11th July 2009. Before they
started Mick Bingham gave them a pep talk to the sounds of
Chart Suttons Jazz Band who were not
playing who let the dogs out.![]() The Arena must have been the biggest we have ever used which gave Brenda the problem of where do we stop but the Display went well and the inclement weather cleared up. Thanks to Brenda with Chester, Jo with Max,
Phil with
Millie, Carole and Katy, Theresa and Holly, Helen with Larry, Terry with
Alfie, Diana with Gus and Carol with Megan.Webmaster note: Thanks to Terry (Payne) for the report and supplying the photos.

The team were out this time in glorious sunshine more or less on home soil on the playing field at Stockbury. Before the main display got under way Roger with his two year old Border Collie Jack did a short routine of heel work, recalls and fun exercises such as leg weaves. This was Jack's first demo in an arena and with a good crowd watching he coped quite well. Time for the main display with Mick again
doing the commentary he introduced the team into the arena. Cheryl with
Charles, Brenda with Chester, Carole with Katie, Mark with Maise, Helen with
Larry, Carol with Megan, Terry with Alfie and Di with Gus. The display ended with Charles doing his party piece before the team left
the arena, well done team. |

We have come to expect good weather when we visit Lord Whisky Animal Sanctuary fetes and this they delivered once again. ![]() As
with the last fete we attended Roger with Jack did a short routine of basic
commands including leaving the dog in the sit and recalling to heal.
The team have now completed eight
displays this year have the last venue, Belmont House Country Fair, to
attend on Sunday 27th September where they are scheduled to do a display in
the morning and the afternoon. |

Display at Belmont House Country Fair Sunday 27th September 2009 |

This was the last event for the team to attend for this year and we were
asked to do two displays, one at 12:00 and one at 14:30. The arena was a
good size, public address system worked well and the weather was warm and
sunny so we were all set to start. The number of people at the event was
larger than we usually get, nice to see so many, and there was plenty going
on around, mini steam engines, working spaniel demonstration with guns going
off to name a few. All these distraction were a good test for our dogs and their tolerance to everyday life even if some what concentrated. The display format was the
same as Lord Whisky with Roger with Jack doing a short routine of basic
commands then a couple of tricks followed by sequences using jumps and a
tunnel.
This completed the team's 2009 display season which again was well
supported by the members and showcased the type of training and the
commitment put in by the handlers to get their dogs to a level of social
obedience to cope with everyday situations. |
