Stockbury Dog Club

BBQ

Held 23rd May 2009
at Stockbury Village Hall / Playing Field

Not quite a year since the last AGM as last year's AGM was delayed due to the hall being unavailable at weekends.
This years AGM is back to our normal time of year and again we combined the AGM with a BBQ.

The AGM 2:00pm start was delayed by 15 mins to allow time for people to arrive as there were delays on the A249 due to an accident.
With about twenty members in attendance our chairman opened the meeting thanking the members for coming and then explained there were no formal minutes from last year as the meeting had been held standing in a group due to other hall users setting up tables. He reported current attendance at morning training was between 20-30 dogs but as the summer approaches may well rise to 40-50 as seen in previous years. Thanks to Brian and Liz for the use of their paddock and to Mick and the committee for their work during the year.
This was followed by Mick's secretary's report during which he pointed out about the donations we as a club have made and the thank you letters were available for viewing. He also said he wished to resign as secretary and that Sue had agreed to be nominated to take his place.

Anne presented the treasure's report.

At the start of Election of Officers Mike stated he would be standing down as chairman but wished to remain on the committee, Mick agreed to be nominated as chairman in his place. Last year's committee were all prepared to stand for another year so with no other nominations the officers and committee were approved.

No topics were raised from the floor, the meeting closed at 2:40pm.

So on to the BBQ which was already underway on the playing field behind the hall again being run by Brian and Liz.
One disadvantage  of making such a good job of it last year, you get asked to do it again. Fortunately for us they agreed so we were soon enjoying sausages, burgers with rolls, onions, salad if required.
This was followed by a selection of deserts and cream.

Looking around about forty of us were tucking in to the food and enjoying a relaxing 'natter'.

Whilst this was going on a raffle was held and prizes distributed, on adding up Anne announced the raffle had taken a magnificent £124.

Thanks to all who came and supported the event also to all those that helped make the day a success, and a BIG BIG thank you to Brian and his family for doing the food.
